an electrifying good time!
With her new album, “Fully Charged”, released this past February 18, 2022 on Blue Heart Records (#1 Top 50 Texas Album on the Roots Music Report), and the successful 2018 release of her critically acclaimed “Premonition of Love”, singer-songwriter Kathy Murray and her band the Kilowatts maintain their place in the blues pantheon that helps Austin, TX keep its reputation as the Live Music Capital of the World.
A singer songwriter par excellence, for decades Murray has helped keep a spotlight on the Texas capital’s music scene. She cut her teeth during the golden era of Austin’s blues and R&B, sharing the stage with the likes of Stevie Ray Vaughan, the Fabulous Thunderbirds and blues godfather W.C. Clark.
Murray is both a big-voiced blues singer and a prolific songwriter with a strong modern perspective. Throughout her professional evolution, the blues has been the foundation of Murray’s music and songwriting, though she’s never been a one-trick pony. “My sound encompasses the influences of all of Texas’ regional musical styles that I’ve been immersed in all my life: blues, country, swamp pop, zydeco, soul, and rockabilly”, she says. “I believe I’m helping take American blues and roots music into the future by writing new songs propelled by the styles that have inspired me.”
